The NHL Playoffs began last night, but the Red Wings' first game was tonight. The game Scott was watching last night went into four overtimes and didn't end until 3:30-ish in the morning. That's part of the joy and pain of watching the playoffs, especially if they take place in the later time zones in the US.
Since there has to be a winner, they play until someone wins. Overtime periods in the playoffs are sudden death (1st one to score wins instantly), and last 20 minutes, so this game that went into three OT's was basically like playing 120 minutes straight.
Can you imagine the physical and mental exertion that these guys expend in a situation like that? Makes me a little thankful I just sit at a desk all day.
But they must love it, and it is exciting to watch...it is the "Coolest Game On Earth!"
